Perfect Brilliant Stillness: beyond the individual self by David Carse

    August 31st, 2008

Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of great books. This latest one I heard about from my neighbor. She was sitting outside and when she saw me, she enthusiastically called me over. She said “Oh, you will love this book! Here, read the Introduction.”

So I did and I was immediately intrigued. The beautiful part is that the Introduction isn’t even the best part. This book is filled with gems, and as an added bonus: David Carse is hilarious.

    Perfect Brilliant Stillness

    Perfect Brilliant Stillness

    From the Introduction:

    by david carse

    the fine print

There are many books out there that will help you to live a better life, become a better person, and evolve and grow to realize your full potential as a spiritual being.

This is not one of them.

At the time of this writing, almost every popular spiritual teacher in America and Europe is teaching that ultimate spiritual enlightenment, once attained only by certain yogis, gurus and other extraordinary beings, can now be yours, and that by reading their books or attending their seminar will help you toward that end.

This book will tell you that these ideas are absurd, because it’s quite obvious that neither you nor anything else has ever existed.

In fact, notwithstanding the enthusiastic blurbs on the cover, I would actually encourage any reasonably normal person not to buy this book. I say this because there is no point in spending good money on another “spiritual” book only to have it turn out to be of no use to you. The subject matter is such that only a very few will be interested in it. What is written about here, if it is really understood, is so genuinely strange that it is on the far edge of what the normal human brain can comprehend or accept. I wouldn’t have understood it myself, or found it interesting, before what happened in the jungle.

In addition, if you do find yourself interested, and are able to see past the words to understand at least some of what they point to, you are likely to find it quite disturbing. Few people buy books on spirituality to be deeply disturbed, so consider yourself forewarned.

And finally, if you read it anyway, and what is hinted at here resonates and is by some remote chance followed to its end, then that will likely also be the end of you. So again, a warning. With any luck, you will not come back from this with a life you can call your own; “you” will not come back at all.

There’s no way to know what the chances of this happening, but the Upanishads say that “only once in a thousand thousand years does a soul wake up,” so there’s probably no need for concern. Probably.

    That said, enjoy.

    Lesson 244

    August 31st, 2008

I am in danger nowhere in the world.

I love what is happening to me lately: I feel totally free. Nothing bothers me. I’m happy all the time. I feel an overwhelming constant joy.

And yet external appearances appear as they always have, or perhaps are even worsening. My bank account is a disaster. If you looked from the outside in (like a fly on the wall) you’d think: Her life is kinda boring.

And yet … it’s thrilling! It’s magnificent! It’s astonishing. I am continually surprised and delighted that Christ is my Mind! He’s not channeling through me … He’s me!

    It floors me.

I’m looking with His eyes, and hearing with His ears.

And this is available to everyone. Not just a select few, not just for me, but for everyone. This IS the journey without distance.

And best of all: I am in danger nowhere in the world! I’m perfectly safe. Doubt has disappeared. Failure does not exist. Sickness doesn’t come anywhere near me. I’m happy all day long, by the sheer simplicity that truth is true.

Can this be taught? I have no idea. It was given to me as I removed distractions. It was given to me because I asked for it. The Voice of God was always speaking to me - since the beginning of my sojourn into time & space - but I couldn’t hear God’s Voice because I was so preoccupied with external things. BUT IT WAS ALWAYS THERE TO RECEIVE! God was speaking all the time! He’s been with me always.

And now I can hear Him (of course! He’s my Mind) and it’s marvelous.

More and more I see the parody/dilemma of spiritual teachers. There’s no one to teach to. It’s great. I don’t have to do anything. I don’t have to be concerned about anyone.

I express myself because it pleases me to see my own mind in action - so yes, I love this blog, yes, I love writing - but I’m coming to the happy realization that there is no result and that I don’t have to do anything.

How did I “get” this? I have no idea. It’s like everything happened and nothing happened. I’m over here laughing. It’s hilarious. Everyone makes such a big deal about having a spiritual awakening. Everyone is trying to get some level of understanding and clarity. Everyone is trying to wake up. It’s funny to me how when I look at all my years of dedication to have an enlightenment experience, how I was trying to accomplish something, achieve something, know something … when all along the truth was right there in front of me!

I was blind and now I can see.

What happens next? Who knows! Who cares!

    Lesson 243

    August 30th, 2008

Today I will judge nothing that occurs.

This is a great lesson for me as there have been many “disappointments” in the past month. A lot of things turned out differently than I imagined/hoped they would.

I’m being honest, which is what today’s lesson requires: honesty.

“I will be honest with myself today. I will not think that I already know what must remain beyond my present grasp.”

Don’t feel sorry for me. Just do the lesson for yourself. Be honest. Realize that you don’t know anything - that it is impossible to see the whole picture from the little fragmented bits - and that there is a larger plan occurring here. Judge nothing that occurs.

For those of you reading this blog for any length of time, you know one thing: I’m in the same boat as you. I’m not any different and we’re going through the same things together. That’s the perfection. I’m literally walking the same path as you - with chaotic things coming at me from seemingly out of nowhere - and yet, I’ve been given a systematic way to change my mind and see everything differently.

So I’m not preaching up on high because I’m taking the journey with you. I’m on the path - there’s still miles to go - and I refuse to slow down to get up on a soap box to describe the terrain I’ve already traveled. What a waste of time. I prefer to let the past go and keep going forward to the finish line.

I desire only to see the NEWNESS of every day.

This blog is more like a traveler’s notebook, where I document the interesting points (in the terrain of my mind) for my own amusement and enjoyment.

So today I recognize that I do not know the whole big picture. Judgment becomes impossible. I don’t know why things fall apart, shift and change. I don’t know why people come and go. I don’t know why my direction suddenly changes. I don’t know. But God knows. He knows the Plan.

I’m not going to hold onto anything - or try to rearrange anything - because that would only be my own interference - me trying to control how I think things should occur. Trying to rearrange events is an attempt to stay in the same spot in the journey and not move ahead. Trying to get other people to do what you want them to do is manipulation to stay in time and space. It’s a delay tactic, an attempt to control how you think things should go … rather than simply letting God show you where you need to go.

Be honest. Are you trying to manipulate people, events, situations? OR are you waking up to a brand new day every day, aware that you have a Guide Who shows you where to go. Forget about other people. This is only about you. If something is not working, let it go. Don’t try to force anything to work. God’s got the map, and He knows the way. Judge nothing that occurs.

    Let go, and let God.

God is putting down signposts for me. He’s nudging me forward. He’s leading me to the new places I need to go. Sometimes I’m journeying down the wrong path or heading in the opposite direction - and there is a disruption to set me back on the correct path. Knowing this, how can I judge anything???

I can only rejoice that I have a Guide Who knows the way, and who is leading me.

It means I remain in a state of acceptance and wonder, no matter what occurs.

If you’ve ever taken a long-distance car trip, or a journey through nature, you know that you are a passenger observing the scenery. You watch things as they go by. Sometimes you see a horrible car wreck or a dead deer all blood and guts, but you don’t stop to analyze it. You just keep going. The thought might linger in your mind but you say to yourself “oh well, these things happen.” You don’t try to fix it. You don’t try to go back and make it right again. You just keep going forward on the way to your destination.

You might even be one of those people who does stop to help, but then you quickly get back on your way again. You don’t camp out there … wondering the whys and the hows.

And so it should be with events in your life. Just keep going. Don’t judge. These things happen. Don’t try to fix it. Just keep heading towards your destination. It’s all just scenery. Don’t get trapped in the story.

    Forward ahead.

Today I will judge nothing that occurs.

    I let the past go.

“Father, today I leave creation free to be itself. I honor all its parts, in which I am included. We are one because each part contains Your memory and truth must shine in all of us as one.”

    Lesson 242

    August 29th, 2008

This day is God’s. It is my gift to Him.

I love this lesson. It’s like it’s God’s birthday and I want only to do what HE wants to do today. Have you ever done this for someone on their birthday? It’s great. You give the whole day to them. Whatever the birthday girl or boy wants to do is what you want to do. A complete giving up of your own agenda. You go where they want to go. You do what they want to do. You eat what they want to eat. It’s their day … and you’re a servant in their court.

It’s like being a maid to the bride or a best man to the groom. On their wedding day, you clear your whole schedule from start to finish and you place all your focus, attention, care and love on the other person: the bride or the groom. You wear the ugly dress. It’s their day. You do what they want you to do, no questions asked. You do it because you love them.

    Bridesmaids by jilly~bean.

That’s today’s lesson. This day is God’s. It is my gift to Him. I do it because I love Him. I want to do what He wants to do. I’ve cleared my schedule. It’s His day. And herein lies all my joy. I’m happy being a bride’s maid. I’m honored to be a servant to God.

“And so we give today to You, God. We come with wholly open minds. We do not ask for anything that we may think we want. Give us what You would have received by us. You know all our desires and our wants. And You will give us everything we need in helping us to find the way to you.”

    Amen.

    Go Look in the Mirror

    August 29th, 2008

Okay, a simple practice. Go look in the mirror.

bird and leaf motif carved wood wall mirror in heavily antiqued black and gold finish

Your reflection is the ONLY ONE you should be concerned about. Your reflection is THE ONLY ONE that matters. What other people are doing is not your concern at all. A warrior is only concerned about himself, and with achieving true mastery over his own mind. There are no other people. There is just you and God.

Focusing on other people is a total waste of time, energy and the power of God.

    Just look at yourself.

Ask yourself where YOU are in the journey, be impeccable, and don’t worry about other people. As you take responsibility for your own actions (letting go of judgments, grievances, conflict) those “other people” will automatically transform because there is only your mind.

    Just look at yourself.

    Lesson 241

    August 28th, 2008

This holy instant is salvation come.

“What joy there is today! It is a time of special celebration.”

    Go to fullsize image

Speaking of celebration, we’re going to start having some fun over here at Gorgeous for God. I want you guys to step in and start seeing that you can bend time and space. I want you to see miracles, first-hand. I want you to see that you can ask and receive for anything you want.

I just received the most beautiful little book in the world by Gay Hendricks called Five Wishes: How Answering One Simple Question Can Make Your Dreams Come True. First I read all that I possibly could on Amazon Search Inside This Book Feature, until Amazon told me I could not read anymore and would have to purchase the book!

(haha, I thought maybe I could read the whole book online by continually clicking “Surprise Me!” but no luck … )

Thankfully, because it’s such a beautiful book. It has arrived and I am thrilled. It even feels good when I hold it in my hands: like it’s filled with love & light. I am going to do a experiment based on the book Five Wishes here on this blog, using my own life as the demonstration - just to prove that Jesus means what he says when he declares: Ask & Receive.

    Let’s have some fun.

Five Wishes: How Answering One Simple Question Can Make Your Dreams Come True

Five Wishes: How Answering One Simple Question Can Make Your Dreams Come True

I figure it will be more exciting to do an EXPERIMENT than just to write a boring old book review. I like to see things in action. I’m not a lounge-chair kind of girl who likes to read about other people’s experiences. No. No. No. I like to see things happening in my own life, with my own two eyes.

And so should you. Don’t settle for less. Go for the gold.

Unless you see something physically demonstrated in your life, don’t believe it’s true.

Jesus in A Course in Miracles says “You don’t ask for too much, you ask for far too little.”

So, if you feel like joining in on this Great Experiment, I invite you to watch this 17-minute movie by Gay Hendricks:

    What is the world?

    August 28th, 2008

    The world is false perception.

What if you knew you were dreaming? What if you knew that the figures that seemed to walk about in it were wholly unreal?

Many have read these sentences in A Course in Miracles, but do you KNOW it??

Is it still only concept in your mind? Or do you know that everything you see is a image from your mind, projected outward and seen as real?

There is nothing solid here. There is no world. This world is a dream.

The image “http://www.leofabrizio.com/BKK/Dream-World.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Have you witnessed this in your own life? Have you had this experience? Have you seen the veil? Have you seen time and space shift and disappear? Have you seen the matrix?

This thought that can be super scary to anyone hearing it for the first time. It can also be terrifying to those who do not know what to expect.

But once you relax and open your mind, it will be given you to see that your freedom lies in this acceptance. There is no world. This means that you create your own reality. This means you’re free. This is spectacular. Instead of being scary, it should be the most exciting prospect in the world! Everything is contained in your mind! And as you change your mind, the world changes!

    The prison doors open!

This is the fun of practicing. Now we are starting to get to the prize. The goal is within easy reach. The doors of Heaven are right in front of you.

When you were born into this world, your sight was directed to the solidness, stories, categories, and names. Everything has a name here!

But … “As sight was made to lead away from truth, it can be redirected. Sounds become the call for God, and all perception can be given a new purpose by the One Whom God appointed Savior to the world.”

“Follow His light, and see the world as He beholds it. Hear His Voice alone in all that speaks to you.”

It’s what I was writing about yesterday - God is the word. God is all. Let yourself see God in everything. Let God be in every word that is uttered out of your mouth (even if you never use the word “God” at all). This is the beauty. You don’t have to preach. You don’t have to teach. You simply have the Thought of God in your mind, and you let the word of God be contained in every word that you use and think.

Thoughts are the most powerful thing in the world!

It’s a little like Dr. Masaru Emoto with the water crystals. First he purifies the water with the sound of the vibration (or in reverse experimentation - he poisons the water with negative vibration like “I hate you”). But in those water experiments, he demonstrates the POWER OF WORDS. He demonstrates that when Love is the Word, it makes all things beautiful. Literally and Physically.

So, it is with you. Let God fill every word that comes out of your mouth. Let God be in every word that your ears hear from others.

This takes practice. When someone says “you’re ugly” or “you’re stupid” or “I hate you” … let the Thought of God purify those words before they reach your ears. From this most holy place, nothing can affect you. Nothing can touch you. By the time a negative word reaches you it is already transformed into a radiant garden and all you see is God. You’ll see that the speaker of hateful words is calling out for love because …

“What is not love is a call for love.”

“What is not love is fear.”

Put God in everything. See God everywhere. See Him in everyone. He’s in every sound, in every tree, in the cup of coffee that you are drinking, in the computer that you type on, in the chair that you sit in, in the bed you sleep in, in the water you bathe in, in the food you eat, and the people who surround you. God is in all!

There is no religion involved in this. There is no spirituality involved in this. There’s no need to prove anything. There’s not even a need to speak. Just observe and see that it is true.

“And let Him give you peace and certainty, which you have thrown away, but Heaven has preserved for you in Him.”

****Let us not rest content until the world has joined our changed perception. Let us not be satisfied until forgiveness has been made complete. And let us not attempt change our function.****

And let us not attempt to change our function.

    We must save the world.

For we who made it must behold it through the eyes of Christ, that what was made to die can be restored to everlasting life.

    Amazing, right?

When you allow Christ to be the One who looks through you, who works through, your life becomes a simple happy game. All your problems are solved automatically. All healing occurs in that instant. Sickness disappears without a trace.

All because you made a decision - and had a little willingness - to let Christ take over your body and life.

    Thank you very much.

All the angels, and God Himself, rejoice that you heard the call.

Brida by Paulo Coelho: 2nd review

    August 27th, 2008

    I LOVED this book!!!

    I finished reading Brida yesterday.

I know I already wrote about it a few days ago but it gets a second recommendation from me. It’s brilliant and beautiful.

    Brida: A Novel

I’m going to read it again. I read it at lightening speed - in two days - and I found that I was so excited by the story, that I was skipping some sentences in my excitement. Ooops. My mind went into over-drive a little, going 120 miles/per hour. LOL.

    But wow wow wow wow.

It’s filled with diamonds & gems.

Four things especially that I loved were:

    1. The importance of the words you use - God is everything there is - and we need to become aware of the vibration of words and their effects. God is all. God is the word. Other words should be dropped - they are unnecessary and meaningless.

    2. Do not describe emotions. Every experience you have in the world is simply to allow you to discover your Gift. Each one of us has a Gift and we are to find that gift and use it to serve God. The only thing of any value in this world is finding that Gift. The 9 gifts are described by St. Paul’s First Epistle to the Corinthians: the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, healing, the working of miracles, prophecy, the discerning of the spirits, speaking in tongues, and the interpretation of tongues. You have a gift and it is your mission to find it, uncover it and use it.

    3. You should wear all your clothes in your closet. Ha. Practical advice! It says all your clothes have an energetic charge and that you should wear them all, or get rid of the ones you are not wearing. Keep the energy moving.

    4. Begin to listen to the sound of the world. This sound goes on all the time - it’s an undercurrent which is a vibration and it goes on constantly, although most people are unaware of it. You should start dancing to that sound (not dancing to music, but rather dancing to the sound of the world, moving with it) to become one with that ever-present vibration.

There are so many beautiful ideas in this book, practically on every other page, but rather than describe them all here I am simply going to suggest you buy a copy of the book for yourself to see first-hand what I am talking about.

    Lesson 240

    August 27th, 2008

Fear is not justified in any form.

I want you to take a good honest look at this today: Is there fear in your life? Is there something you are afraid of?

Look at it. Are you fearful of something?

Fear is not justified in any form.

The beautiful part of A Course in Miracles is that you don’t have to go searching for things in your past or your future to heal - fear will rise right in front of your eyes, and that will be the thought you need to change your mind about. See that? Everything that needs your attention will be brought directly to your attention … like a cat who loves you will lay a dead mouse at your feet … and you’ll be looking right at it. It will be there for you to see. Right there at your feet. Right in front of your eyes. You don’t have to go hunting for parts of your life that need healing. You don’t need to go searching through childhood memories. Thoughts will rise before you today, and you will recognize: Okay, there’s the fear. Okay. There it is. Now I’m going to apply the lesson:

FEAR IS NOT JUSTIFIED IN ANY FORM.

Most people who practice these lessons never actually make it this far. Most people who say they “do a Course in Miracles” simply read the lesson in the morning. They don’t actually apply the lesson throughout the day in all their life circumstances.

But when you begin to apply the lesson, curious things start to happen. First of all, more crap starts coming up. Resistance. Maybe anger. More fear. Then excuses - all the reasons why your particular fear is justified. Then, if you are far enough along, you’ll have the ability to say: Okay, I’m willing to take a leap of faith here and at least practice the lesson. Okay I can practice the lesson. Fear is not justified in any form. You will feel a momentary sense of release and freedom.

And 5 minutes later the fear rises again!!

And you’re right back in hell again.

And then come more emotions: doubt, frustration, and more resistance.

(ps: it’s called “mind-training” for a reason - it’s a little like being in the military - you’re dismantling a whole false thought system so it might take a while for the whole thing to crumble. You’re most likely not going to get it on the first try. Be patient. Keep going. Keep practicing.)

Most people, initially, have no idea how to let fear go. They are so accustomed to it that they have no idea what it means to just LET IT GO.

That’s why it’s good to have a Teacher. You’re not alone. That’s why it’s good to practice these lessons to specific situations (rather than just reading them in the morning). It’s like working out in a gym … action is involved, you are required to stretch your muscles and eventually you see results.

And so it is here. Action is required. As you start letting go of fear, eventually you see results.

As you allow a little willingness to direct your practicing, you will start to feel a sense of joy and relief.

For me, I constantly feel fear. That’s not a problem. I feel fear all the time but I don’t let it stop me. I don’t let it slow me down. I step right into whatever terrifies me. I don’t let fear hold me back. I let it push me forward. I do what scares me the most. So, it’s not like the feeling of fear magically disappears - it doesn’t - it’s always there - it’s just that when it arises I tell myself “fear is not justified in any form” and then I do whatever it is that’s scaring me.

Fear is my best friend. I love her. She compels me and pushes me past my own self-imposed boundaries and limitations. She’s charming, daring and exciting. I like her a lot. She’s my constant loving companion.

Once I stopped being afraid of her, I saw how valuable she is in my life. Fear is a great friend to have!

Walk beside her and let her guide you past your comfort zones.

    Lesson 239

    August 26th, 2008

The glory of my Father is my own.

“Let not the truth about ourselves today be hidden by a false humility. Let us instead be thankful for the gifts our Father gave us.”

This was a difficult lesson for me because false humility and humbleness were traits I picked up as a child in order to blend into the crowd and be invisible. Before I learned false humility, I was a shining bright star. I was one of those kids that could accomplish anything. I aced every test. I knew the answer to every question. I had an active mind and I loved being constantly challenged … except there was no around to challenge me. I was mostly bored in the classroom but then I discovered that treasure house that is the library. I found my freedom and happiness in books. Books gave me the challenge I needed, and as a result … whole worlds began opening up to me. The universe opened up before me… and the more I read, the more disenchanted I became by what I was learning in the classrooms with tests, battle dates, and memorization.

I quickly learned that no one likes a know-it-all. Even the teachers didn’t know what to do with me and my gifts. They would simply say “Now Lisa, I know you know the answer, let someone else have their turn now.” And 9 times out of 10, no one would know the answer and the teacher would have to explain everything like we were all in kindergarten.

And the strange thing was that no one was really interested in learning. All my classmates were constantly slumped in a chair, not listening, waiting for the bell to ring. I could never figure out why a teacher would continue to teach to a class that no one was interested in. What’s the point?

Mostly I was baffled that the teachers were always trying to slow me down, to give the other kids a chance to learn. That never made any sense to me. Why do I have to slow down so someone else can learn?? I used to always wonder why we had to find a “group speed” - instead of simply allowing the fast kids to be fast and the slow kids to be slow. Instead it was always a constant struggle to slow down the fast kids and speed up the slow kids.

    Such is life.

Everyone is always molding themselves into the group.

Around the 3rd or 4th grade, my active mind became a problem for me and instead of being praised for good work, I was teased and ridiculed. So I decided rather than shine bright, I would become ordinary. I let my grade slide and suddenly I had tons of friends, everyone loved me! - but in my heart it felt terrible because I knew I was compromising. I knew I was not being my authentic self. I knew I was capable of great things and instead I was acting sloppy & dumb so people would like me. I knew I had an A+ mind but instead I let myself slide and become an average student. The reward for this behavior was that I was well-liked by all.

Welcome to the compromise of the world.

Today’s lesson is asking me is to find my own gifts, and be thankful for them, and to not hide them under a bushel anymore. To put these gifts on a candlestick and let them glorify my Father.

Let your light shine before men!

Candlestick Holder Of The Mausoleum by Sebastian Niedlich (Grabthar).

Be great in God. Be creative. Be bright. Stand in a class all by yourself.

Don’t let slow people slow you down and don’t let fast people try to speed you up. You have your own gifts and you should not march to anyone else’s drum. Make your own music. You determine the speed at which you travel and if other people have a problem with it, well, that is their problem … not your problem.

    You be yourself.

Remember your promise to Jesus to be a bright light in the world.

There’s no one else in the world like you! You’re brilliant and magnificent.

“Let not the truth about ourselves today be hidden by false humility.”

There is a saying “It’s lonely at the top” and that’s definitely true … UNTIL … you realize you have mighty companions with you. You’re never alone.

This journey is about beginning to interact with the invisible forces that are with you and around you. This path is about learning what your Gifts are, and recognizing the light that is in you.

The image “http://www.evigliv.com/Borders%20Backgrounds/images/PB_Jesus_hand_light.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

It is about knowing God and knowing yourself as God created you.

Today’s lesson is about HONORING that light, HONORING your gifts, HONORING God, HONORING yourself, and really coming fully into your own genius & brilliance.

It doesn’t do you (or the world) to play small or dumb.

“We thank you Father, for the light that shines forever in us. And we honor it, because you share it with us. We are one, united in this light and one with You, at peace with all creation and ourselves.”

    Lesson 238

    August 25th, 2008

On my decision all salvation rests.

This is a great lesson. It reminds me of my worthiness, my holiness, and my perfection.

“Father, Your trust in me has been so great, I must be worthy. I must be beloved of You indeed. And I must be steadfast in holiness as well, that You would give Your Son to me in certainty that he is safe Who still is part of You, and yet is mine, because He is my Self.”

There came a time when I realized the magnitude of the RESPONSIBILITY of this blog and my writing. I also realized the magnitude of the responsibility of every word that came out of my mouth and every thought that I held in my mind.

When I first started this blog in November 2004, I didn’t tell anyone about Gorgeous for God and I wrote entirely for myself because I wanted to learn. I wrote all sorts of crap. I wrote whatever came to mind. I bared my soul. I emptied my thoughts out like garbage that needed to be taken to the dump. I didn’t think anyone could possibly be interested in what I had to say, so I wrote whatever I wanted.

I went in all directions like the wind.

But then one day, after a few months of blogging, I found a thing called Blog Stats (something I had been unaware of) and to my horror I realized that 100 people were quietly reading my blog every day. I nearly collapsed to the floor. My writing changed in that instant and on that day. Suddenly there was a responsibility that hadn’t been there before: 100 people were coming to me. Suddenly I had to be more aware of my words because they could have consequences on someone else’s life.

“In the beginning was the word, and the word was God.”

On that day I thought: okay, well, what’s this blog for? Why am I writing? What’s it for? And ultimately, I don’t know what it’s for, I don’t really know why I write except that I love it and it gives me immense joy, but on that day I thought: I’m here to be helpful.

I thought “If I can change one person’s misery and make them happy, then this blog is a complete success.”

    My mission became:

    1. to make happy
    2. to be helpful
    3. to inspire individuals to be as God created them … perfect.

And an interesting thing happened … my writing changed. Practically overnight. It happened like a magician waving a wand. When I got clear in my mind about the goal and mission about what I was doing in life, everything changed instantly for me.

It was like someone taking Windex and cleaning off the foggy mirror that was in front of me.

And now it’s almost four years later, and there’s a lot of people reading this blog. God has entrusted many to my care. The more my blog numbers increased, the more freaked out I became. I would think “Who am I to instruct anyone? How can I possibly help anyone? Why are these people coming to me? I have nothing to offer. What if I say the wrong thing? What if someone gets hurt?”

But then there is today’s lesson reminding me “Father, I must be worthy. You created me, and know me as I am. And yet you placed Your Son’s salvation in my hands, and let it rest on my decision.”

And so it is with me.

My decision to be helpful opened the flood gates.

“On my decision all salvation rests.”

And so it is with you. God is sending people to you know because you have made a decision to let the light shine through you and to let Christ work through you. I’m sure some people have already started coming to you, asking for your help. Sometimes it starts slowly, sometimes it explodes immediately. Whatever the case, you begin to recognize the immense responsibility to not confuse anyone further than they already are.

You learn the simplicity of loving and giving like a child. This is the best kind of teacher - the one that is like a child.

Children naturally know how to share.

Boy in Blue sharing his new ball by santafeez.

How simple is salvation! Share like an innocent child.

“And so, again today, we pause to think how much our Father loves us. And how dear His Son, created by His Love, remains to Him Whose Love is made complete in him.”

It is my privilege to extend the Love of God every day. Thank you for showing up.

    Lesson 237

    August 24th, 2008

Now would I be as God created me.

    Perfect.

    perfect hit by cloud_nine.

    Bulls-eye.

Today I will accept the truth about myself. I will arise in glory, and allow the light in me to shine upon the world throughout the day. I bring the world the tidings of salvation which I hear as God my Father speaks to me.

    Amazing.

I love the constant reminders of these lessons, and the simple instructions that are given to me to practice.

“Christ is my eyes today, and He the ears that listen to the Voice for God today. Father, I come to You through Him Who is Your Son, and my true Self as well. Amen.”

    Brida, by Paulo Coelho

    August 24th, 2008

I’m reading the most beautiful book right now called Brida, by Paulo Coelho.

    Brida: A Novel
“Before our first lesson, I want to remind you of one thing,” he said. “When you find your path, you must not be afraid. You need to have sufficient courage to make mistakes. Disappointment, defeat, and despair are the tools God uses to show us the way.”
“Strange tools,” said Brida. “They often dissuade people from carrying on.”
The Magus knew the reason for these tools, he had already experienced both in body and soul.
“Teach me the Tradition of the Sun,” she insisted.
The Magus asked Brida to lean back against the rock and relax.
“There’s no need to close your eyes. Look at the world around you and try to see and understand as much as you can. The Tradition of the Sun is constantly revealing eternal knowledge to each individual.”

Brida is about Soul mates, magic, the bridge between the visible and the invisible, the journey to know yourself, and God.

“I learned about the Dark Night,” she said to the now silent forest. “I learned that the search for God is a Dark Night, that Faith is a Dark Night. And that’s hardly a surprise really, because for us each day is a dark night. None of us knows what might happen even the next minute, and yet we still go forward. Because we trust. Because we have faith.
“Or who knows, perhaps because we just don’t see the mystery contained in the next second. Not that it mattered. What mattered was knowing that she had understood.
That every moment in life is an act of faith.
That you could choose to fill it with snakes and scorpions or with a strong protecting force.
That Faith cannot be explained. It was simply a Dark Night. And all she had to do was accept it or not.

    It’s a beautiful book.

Since reading The Alchemist many years, I’ve read every book Paulo Coelho has ever written. The man is brilliant, remarkable, humble, insightful and a master at storytelling.

    Brida

If you’ve never read his work, I highly recommend him. Pick a time when you are not going to be interrupted for hours (like taking a flight to Europe) because once you get started on one of his books, you will not want to put it down. Plus time flies and you will disappear into his stories, which is a great way to go if you’ve traveling on a crowded flight.

Here is a letter from Paulo Coelho about Brida:

    Dear Reader,

In Brida, my third novel which I wrote just after The Alchemist, I tell the story of a young woman that dives into sorcery and experiences with different magical traditions. I explore many themes that are dear to me, such as The Great Mother, pagan religions and the perceptions of love.

When I wrote this book and published it in Brazil more than 18 years ago, themes such as the feminine face of God were still very foreign to most people. Nevertheless, I noticed, with the passing of time, a shift in perception – people being more open to the intuitive perception of the world and being less seduced by the fixed rules of society. As written on the book, “the noblest thing a human being can experience is acceptance of the mystery.”

I have the feeling that the world is accepting more and more the mystery and so, dear readers, I present you the story of this young woman today.

    Lesson 236

    August 23rd, 2008

I rule my mind, which I alone must rule.

I watched a great movie last night called The Hurricane, with Denzel Washington.

    Stock photo

It goes along perfectly with today’s lesson - I rule my mind, which I alone must rule - and it also reminded me of the great necessity to not just accept your lot in life and think that something by way of a miracle is just going to drop out of the sky and save you. Your release is not going to be handed to you on a silver platter while you drone out in front of the television, eating chips out of the bag. You are going to have to FIGHT for your freedom. You’re going to have to fight for justice. You’re going to have to stand up for your innocence, and for all the things you believe in. You’re imprisoned for life and if you want to be released, then you are going to have to fight for it

You’re going to have to put your whole life, mind and body into it.

IF THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT. Some people are perfectly content to let the hours roll into days into weeks into years. That’s fine.

But if you’re looking for release from time & space, you can’t just sit around in your prison cell, praying for a miracle, hoping your circumstances will change. They won’t.

You are going to have to stand up and fight for what you know is true: your innocence, truth and your release.

Denzel Washington plays Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, a man who in the prime of his boxing career is falsely accused and convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. In prison, he refused to conform to the rules. He rose above the hell that was his physical world of his jail cell and he ruled his mind, which he alone must rule. While in prison he wrote a memoir The Sixteenth Round, and a young teenager who was inspired by the book along with 3 Canadian activists who dedicated their lives to standing up for truth, decided to prove Carter’s innocence.

It’s an extraordinary story. Carter spent 20 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and when he is finally released he says “Hate got me into this place, love got me out.”

    Here’s from today’s lesson:

I have a kingdom I must rule. At times it does not seem I am its king at all. It seems to triumph over me, and tell me what to think, and what to do and feel.

See that? You think your life is ruling you. You think circumstances are ruling you. You think someone else determines the outcome of your life. But it’s not true. You rule your mind. You have the ability to rise above all circumstances. You have the power to fight the good fight.

Not all fighting is bad. Sometimes you gotta stand up for what you believe in, even when no one else believes in you, even when the whole system is fighting against you.

You may think to yourself: “I can’t fight against the system. It’s too huge, it’s too corrupt, and I’m too small. I can’t possibly make a difference. I’m no one.”

And then you give up before you even begin! This the main difficulty every encounters! The think of the magnitude of a project or task before they even begin, and then they see themselves as a failure without even trying, and then they give up.

    And the corruption continues.

But usually when you’ve got nothing else to lose and when your whole life depends on it, you will find an energy source capable of going the distance and not wavering … until you are free.

If you are still in prison, bound by rules and limitation, please don’t give up. Please don’t ever accept your circumstances as “just the way it is”. THAT’S NOT THE WAY IT IS.

Until you walk out of those prison doors into the sunlight, do not give up. Do not let yourself become defeated. Keep in mind that the system is designed to beat you down.

I’ve gone years where I thought “this is not working.” I’ve given up on many occasions. I’ve thought “this is a waste of time.”

But if Carter Rubin can sit in a jail cell for 20 years, then I can keep going.

I can tell you from personal experience the journey is humbling … and at times: exhausting. You think you’re alone. You think you’ve been abandoned. You believe there is no God. Years go by and nothing happens. I’ve had moments when I think “this has all been a waste of time. Nothing is happening”

And then comes the most terrifying thought of all: “What is nothing ever happens? What if I’ve been wrong and this is all a huge waste of time? What if this is as good as it gets? What if I die in this cell?”

Then I die in this cell, fighting till the end.

I don’t have a choice in the matter. I’ve been set upon a path and there’s no turning back. I’ve got nowhere else to go. There’s nothing else for me. I’ve got nothing else to do.

This path has been magnificent and I cannot imagine any greater privilege than to stand up for Jesus and glorify my Father.

My mind can only serve. Today I give its service to the Holy Spirit to employ as He sees fit. I thus direct my mind, which I alone can rule. And thus I set it free to do the Will of God.

    Lesson 235

    August 22nd, 2008

God in His mercy wills that I be saved.

I need but look upon all things that seem to hurt me, and with perfect certainty assure myself, “God wills that I be saved from this” and merely watch them disappear.

Another practical lesson! Look at that! You can easily practice this one in your life, with whatever issue is going on in your life right now with whatever seems to be hurting you. The tendency is always to think you’ll feel better when circumstances change, when outside conditions (people, places, events) change. You think you’ll be happier if you had more money, or if someone else was acting differently, or if someone would give you the thing you think you need - more money, more love, more space, more attention, more appreciation, more recognition.

It’s good to recognize that these thoughts are hurting you. They don’t feel good. It doesn’t feel good to think you are in limitation. It doesn’t feel good to think how miserable your life is. It doesn’t feel good to think you are unworthy. It downright hurts.

But God, in His mercy, will you be saved from all things that seem to hurt you.

God’s Will for you is perfect happiness. Right now. Right this minute.

And how is this accomplished? How is it possible to go from feeling like crap to feeling wonderful in an instant?

By changing your mind. By changing the vibrational frequency of the thoughts you are holding in your mind. By remembering that God’s Love surrounds you. To remember your gratitude.

You are the Son God loves.

I am continually amazed by how most people only look to what is lacking in their life (and what they think they need and want) and they are blind to the gifts and splendor that surround them.

    Wake up!

Look what is right in front of you.

    Wake-Up by Confused-Hair.

To be awake means to have your eyes wide-open to see what is directly in front of you in this moment.

Forget about future goals. Take a look at the gifts that you surround you from the place that you are sitting in this very minute. Count your blessings. You’ll be amazed.

You’ll go from poverty to abundance in a nanosecond. You’ll go from boredom to wonder faster than you can snap your fingers.

To be awake means to be conscious of your true Identity, which is pure light, pure Spirit.

God’s Will for you is perfect happiness - today.

God in His mercy wills that you be saved.

    I love you.

I posted this link in the comments area, but it’s so brilliant that I want to post it here in the main area.

An interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer, by Emmet Fox. The late, great, brilliant Emmet Fox. The man is a genius.

Do yourself a favor and buy his books. My favorite is Sermon on the Mount, but they are all fantastic.

    About money

    August 21st, 2008

This just got emailed to me. The first paragraph is from me, apparently something I’d written on my blog. Then there is a question about money. Then my response. Of course, I could be totally wrong … but it’s still fun to bear my guts to the world and put my heart out on my sleeve for all to see.

I’d like to hear from you about your experiences with these lessons, because if you still believe you have problems, we need to clean that up. I don’t want you to carry your confusion into these next lessons, because we are moving into new territory and there is no need to carry old baggage, problems or grievances into the next phase.

    “Your problems have been solved.”

    lisanatoli2@gmail.com

I want to hear from ALL OF YOU

Lisa, I hope I am not writing to you too much. I just wanted to ask you to talk about money. Byron Katie says: “Money is everywhere — it’s hard not to have it.” Or something like that.

I want enough money to meet my needs and to relax.

So I bet you are going to say: Well relax first and the money will come.

Is that what you are going to say???

I am feeling so STUCK about money.

The path of the savior is not about relaxing is what I say!

Stay alert and everything you need to accomplish the Holy Spirit’s Purposes will be given to you.

I’m honestly not the best person to write about money - there’s tons of abundance books that can answer that question - but I can tell you about my own personal experience … I said Yes! to God (I declared absolutely “my life is Yours! have all of me! My life belongs to you!”) and by doing that I set myself on a path that literally had to move beyond all the abundance/money teaching. There is larger Plan at work here and there can be no mistakes. Jesus is guiding us in a plan to save the world. That’s no small thing. He’s the leader, and we are the followers, and we are literally taking a journey that is being revealed step by step. This is unknown territory and you’re gonna see there will be a whole new batch of teachers, new ways of communication, expressing/demonstrating a message that has not yet been taught yet but will be a whole new language, embraced by all.

What we do know is that it has been accomplished - there is a happy ending (we just don’t know the exact specifics from where we currently stand - the course says not even the angels know how it ends), but we do know that it ends in benediction and blessing. So we don’t have to be afraid or worried.

We’re trail blazers, in this sense, we’re pioneers. And the 1st characteristic of a Teacher of God??? TRUST.

That’s what’s needed now in you. Trust.

This has all been part of a very specific curriculum and each of us gets the curriculum that we need to learn based on what our role is in the universe.

For me, I asked God to take all of me, to use me for His Purposes, and I’ve been put through some very intense experiences to see that I can stand on my own, with no money … and this is important … to not compromise. There have been many times on this path that temptation has called me, but i don’t waver. I belong to Jesus.

There have been times when i have wanted fame, fortune and luxury … but that’s not my path. My path is to bring as many people home to God as possible.

Remember what A Course in miracles says: “Salvation of the world depends on me.”

This goes beyond all self-help, abundance and attraction. This is the way of mastery. This is the way of Jesus.

And all I know really is that I have never been comfortless, and all my needs have been taken care of, and I’ve been shown great mysteries and great gifts that were laying dormant in me … that I might have been blind to if say, my book took off as a best-seller a year ago.

but instead it’s been a humbling fantastic magnificent perfect plan that i never have any money, and I’m certain that will all change in a moment, but I don’t have to be concerned about it at all.

You’re with me. We’re with Jesus.

And the scenery will all change in an instant (as you change your mind) and you’ll be laughing your head off that you ever worried about something as small as money.

You’ll see the gifts and splendor that surround you now.

    Love, lisa

    Lesson 234

    August 21st, 2008

Father, today I am Your Son again.

What does this mean? Religious connotations aside. What does this mean? Father, today I am Your Son again. What does this mean without all the cultural/emotional coloration of past associations you learned here in the world?

What if you didn’t have a past reference for this? What would this mean?

Father, today I am Your Son again.

I’m not going to answer this question. I want you to think about it.

I can tell you this: I cried like a baby when I saw the magnitude of what this lesson was saying to me.

Let the past go. Let all your ideas go, and let today’s lesson sink into your mind. Just think about it until you know what it means.

Father, today I am Your Son again.

We thank You, Father, that we cannot lose the memory of Your and of Your Love. We recognize our safety, and give thanks for all the gifts You have bestowed on us, for all the loving help we have received, for Your eternal patience, and the Word which You have given us that we are saved.
