I was reading Chapter 2 of the Text of A Course in Miracles last night, and it’s terrific. It stumbled upon a sentence that I have read before (as it was underlined), but the magnitude of it didn’t hit me until last night:
!!!!!!!!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Spirit is already perfect, and the body is a learning device for the mind. That’s all!! The body is nothing. It cannot be sick therefore it cannot be healed. ONLY THE MIND NEEDS HEALING.
“Only the mind can create because spirit has already been created perfect, and the body is a learning device for the mind. Learning devices are not lessons in themselves. Their purpose is merely to facilitate learning.” – ACIM
And all healing is certain. It is guaranteed by God.
“The body is merely part of your experience in the physical world. Its ability can be and frequently are overevaluated. However, it is almost impossible to deny its existence in this world. Those who do so are engaging in a particularly unworthy form of denial.”
It says it must be accepted that “healing is necessary.”
So rather than running around saying “I’m perfect, I’m perfect, I’m perfect, it’s accomplished, there is no world, there is no body” – I can just as easily GET HONEST and ask the question if there is anything else in my mind that needs healing.
HEALING IS NECESSARY.
Is there fear still?
Do I cling to the past?
Where am I holding on?
Where do I need to let go?
Have I released ALL of my brothers?
Do I still hold grievances?
What am I afraid of? Does it serve me?
So healing is a decision to stop searching outward, and to join with God. It is a recognition that MY ONLY NEED is to allow the separation between me & God to be healed. To close the gap. To remember where my safety and joy is. It’s in me. It’s in God. It’s right here, right now.
There’s nothing to fear.
The past is over. I let it go.
Here is the section from Chapter 2, from the original manuscript of A Course in Miracles: Healing as Release from Fear, November 14, 1965
